Hebden is an attractive little village within the Yorkshire Dales National Park, with a well-stocked shop-cum-Post Office (200 yds) and The Clarendon (300 yds), offering fine food and real ale. The Old School Tea Room offers light refreshments and lunches most days. It is conveniently situated just two miles from bustling Grassington, which offers all manner of shops and good eating places, and is building a reputation for itself as a centre for the arts.
Skipton, offering numerous attractions and large supermarkets, is ten miles away. There are many beautiful walks in all directions from Swallows' Nest without having to take the car: riverside walks to Burnsall or to Grassington, or following Hebden Beck up to the hills, which are littered with the remnants of the 19th century lead mining industry.
